Right before we left for Sunny warm Vegas for Christmas, we got DUMPED on here in Utah with snow!!! So. not. a. fan!!!!!
Seriously- my Square Back's tires were covered! Poor princess consuela is not a woman who appreciates snow. ew!
Seriously, it was just ridiculous! Like a foot or two just chillin on the back porch- yuck! (OK it's a little pretty but the hour and a half I spend un burying the drive way was so not magical nor beautiful!
Anyways, moving on to Vegas! We made it safe and sound with a little rain on the way there...
Christmas eve night we went Christmas Caroling with my family. The kids LOVED it! I remember hating caroling, not sure why, I just did... probably when I was a teenager and too cool for everything. Like duh.
Cortney and David played the guitar and ukelele for our caroling and at the end sat in the front yard and serenaded baby Jesus. Aw!
Annual Pace/Bryant Christmas eve nativity play! My aunt Angela had the cutest dress up kit for it! Scott was Joseph, Amanda was Mary. Cortney was the noble donkey. :)
Kimmy and Brock as shepards being "sore afraid".
David, Cortney and Chris as wise men who are all sorts of excited that they spotted the star!!!
David bowing down before Jesus. Way low. Like with his face on the ground? Not sure why?? :)
Silly group shot!
Annual Christensen Christmas Eve Party at Dan's parents. And of course the annual Christensen March complete with masks and funny hats!
So Santa makes an annual apprearance at the Christensen family Christmas party. My kids have come to know and expect that. They look forward to it all season long! And brag about it to their friends. Well this year Scott was avidly checking the Santa radar website that shows you were Santa is delivering toys at. During the party was saw that he was in South America and then right after that "Santa" (aka, Dan's cousin Jack who had been sitting in front of us at the party with his cute son Will) comes in. At first Scott is all excited. And then kinda looks at him. And then when I snapped this pic Scott turned to Dan and said, "Dad that's not the real Santa." Dan was like "Yeah it is! Look!" And Scott said- "No dad- that's that kids dad. (talking about Will)." Oops!!! Guess he WAS more observant than we thought he would be. So we tried to cover and told him that Santa was super busy and that we had just seen on the computer that the real santa was in South America and that we had Dan's cousin dress up for the little kids. Scott was a touch bummed by this but bounced back and I think we still have a believer for another year or two... maybe. :)
Brock jumped right up and told Santa that he wanted a rainbow power ranger for Christmas... ?
Scott loved "Santa" anyways. :) And told him he wanted a DS.
Molly had NO problems with the big man. She was just a little confused about all that white hair on his face....
Kara on the other hand was oddly scared of Santa this year but I made her get a picture "with" him. She looks like she's laughing but there was a fair share of freaking out involved in the making of this picture. lol.
Brock on Christmas Morning!!!!!
Me and Molly on her first Christmas. She wasn't very interested in the unwrapping part....
Painting some new toys Christmas morning with Jojo.
Dan and Brock waiting for the magic to start
Oh Christmas morning. :)
Kara and presents
Scott wanted one thing for Christmas and was being a stinker everytime he opened a present and it wasn't a DS.
and then he got it. :) (soooo spoiled)
Brock
Talking to Max on the phone. (Dan's brother who is in Africa on his mission)
Molly's first Christmas. She had just woken up from a nap for these pics so she looks a little cranky. :)
At Christmas dinner at my moms, my dad deep fried a turkey. Scott requested the leg of the turkey. And he ate almost all of it! What a roast beast!
(of course no trip to vegas is complete without a dip in the hot tub! Even if it is the dead of winter!)
I LOVE Christmas! I always have! I love my family traditions and Dan's families traditions and Santa and Christmas music and Christmas treats.... I just love it!
Oh one other funny story for now that I just remembered. After Christmas unwrapping was over and the kids were wandering around playing with toys, Kara wandered past me sighing and saying, "I just LOVE Santa!" I laughed and said, "What about Jesus, don't you love Jesus too since it's his birthday?" To this she replied, "Nope, Santa gave me this toy, I just love him."
Oops, I swear we tried so hard this year to beat into them that the reason for the season is Jesus' gift to us and that we should be more excited about giving then recieving blah blah blah... I guess Kara missed that lesson. Maybe next year we'll have to tell them all their toys came from Baby Jesus. ;)
