So- we're finally home from a month long of vacationing and craziness. It's hard to be glad though when the house is covered in a couple inches of crap we're still unpacking and dealing with and me and the kids are still trying to catch up on sleep from all the business. But I hope within a week or so life will be back to normal.... But it's already good to be back in my own bed and back with my hubby!
So backtracking- Camp was great. It was so hot and we didn't have much shade, (which doesn't go too well with being 6 months preg.) But it was a good time. The biggest bummer was that we had fire restrictions and so we couldn't have campfires at all or even use charcoal so we had to use only propane stoves... (As a result some of the dinners were a flop but all in all we survived). Also- we have such a small young womens that we were really lucky to have 6 girls come up. 3 member and 3 nonmember girls. Even though we were small in numbers we still had a blast...
The funniest story of the week was one of the leaders brought up a empty giant metal can (like the kind you use for food storage) and apparently if you poke a hole in the bottom of the can and pull a wet shoestring through it slowly it sounds just like a bear growl. (well it does!)
So on the second to last night she and I decided to try a little prank. The girls were all in their tents and about to go to sleep so we told them we were going to the bathroom and asked if anyone needed to go- they all said no so we walked about 10 yards away and then crept back and made the bear noise. And I kicked the bushes near me to sound like an animal in them. At first they paused and then kept talking then after a few times the older girls started laughing and realized it had to be us. One even said "Hey it sounds like a shoestring in a metal can..."
I thought the gig was up and I went down and washed my face and such and came back 5 min later and apparetnly the other leader snuck around the back side of camp and started doing it again and freaked the first years out!!! By the time I got back they were hyperventilating and sobbing and convinced there was a bear that was going to eat them! The best part was we tried to convince them it was probably just someone doing a prank. And they insisted "No way- if it was someone doing a prank it had to be a huge huge fat person in the bushes cuz it sounded like a huge bear!" Nice huh- that was me kicking the bushes! haha Anyways- we got them calmed down and told them what really happened and it became the big joke...
Anyways- here's some pics of our little group.
The girls decided to make a "mascot" to hang from the flag pole in our camp site. So we had these horse things on a pole (like kids play with) so they made a pregnant horse modeled after me I guess) It was pretty funny. We named her Lulu the Loch Lomond mascot (That's our ward-Loch Lomond) (and that's a sucker in my mouth- attractive huh?- scary how much we look alike - isn't it?!)
Oh and we did secret sister wards in our stake and we had to do a random act of kindness or something to another ward. So we "mooned" our sister ward. We cut out tons of moons and went and stuck them all over their campsite and left a little treat and note saying "You've been mooned by your secret sister ward- enjoy these treats from us." We gave them star crunches and cosmic brownies. The girls LOVED it! The picture is really dark sorry- but you get the idea!
