The first one was for his 2nd bday and he was obviously into Nemo. I'm most proud of this one! The seaweed is sour straws and the pink sea creature thing is laffy taffy. Crushed grahm crackers for the sand and the rest is just icing and goldfish.
This second one was my first fondant attempt and so it's very simple and un- embellished. Obviously Scott had gotten into Cars at this point...
Brock's 1st birthday cake was my first attempt at a filled cake- (didn't work out too well) but it tasted good- just plain jane frosting on this one.

Anyways- I look at really good cake makers... like this one... (makes my little cakes look sad!) But I tried hard- but think how hard this lady tried!!! (pinkcakebox.com)

Someday I'll be able to create something awesome like that- (though no where near that awesome- but it'll be cool!!) Just you wait and see!!

Nicole, your cakes are awesome! I'm impressed. Remember that year we all went out for Tommy's birthday? It was when I was pregnant. Then we went back to our place for cake? I hadn't ordered a cake from the grocery store soon enough, so I tried to make my own Homestar Runner cake? It was a normal cake with printouts of the cartoons on it! Not edible, but paper pictures that I had cut out!!!
Post a picture of whatever you do make for the party. I'm sure it will be amazing.
I loved your cake last year for scott. Better than anything I'd be able to come up w/. My poor kids will always be stuck w/ just plain cake or cup cakes...straight from the box no scratch here!
