So lil' Molly is FINALLY starting to sleep better! Hazaa!!!! I mean the girl is a month shy of being a year old. It's about time. I think she's slept all night 3 times so far! And was it fabulous for me you ask? Of course not. Because Murphy's law of motherhood apparently states that when your baby starts sleeping through the night all of your other children decide to not sleep! Of course!!
So the first night Kara was up with something like mild night terrors- just crying and thrashing about of course on the floor next to my bed since she only stays in her bed 2 hours tops after she falls asleep and then she spends the rest of the night on the blankets and pillows we leave next to the bed for her. So that was fun. not.
The second time Kara got the stomach flu! Again, super fun. NOT.
The third time- last night- Scott came in at 3:30 to tell me he had barfed! So I came down and cleaned up and got him re situated and went back to bed at like 4:15. At 4:30 Scott came back in to tell me Brock had now barfed! Double awesome! So I went back down and helped Brock and cleaned him up and got him back to bed at like 5:30. And of course sweet Molly was up and ready to go from her blissful sleep at 7:00. Super duper fun!! NOT!!!
(Side note- I cursed mySELF during the cleaning up process because I've been trying really hard to get my kids to be healthier. So I buy lots of fruits and veggies and do a co-op for that (click here to check it out). Anyways- last night I had Relief Society and didn't really make much dinner. I threw together some of the left over veggies. I broiled some tomatoes with a mayo cheese topping (actually pretty yummy!) Chopped up some romaine for a salad. And cooked some brussel sprouts in olive oil and garlic. I meant this all to be a side dish to maybe some left over meatballs or maybe a frozen pizza or some corn dogs. I didn't expect anyone to really eat much of it but me. But no one felt like making anything else so we all just had the veggies. Brock's on this herbivore kick after watching too much Dinasour Train on PBS. So he grabbed a piece of Kale out of the fridge and chowed on that. And had me drizzle a little italian dressing on it. So scott copied. And then Scott didn't like the cooked tomatoes and asked for raw sliced ones with a little vinager and salt and pepper. I got him that and then I left for RS. Well I guess that's all the boys ate. veggies and vinager and italian dressing. So yeah- needless to say that didn't sit well in their tummies and it smelled awesome in their room last night with all that vinagery smell back in the air. (not!) But yeah- why would the universe curse me for getting my boys to eat healthy? I mean COME ON! :)
Ah glorious wonderous motherhood. Not only do we give up our rockstar figures to bear the beasts, they take our sleep away for the next dozen years. :) Seriously how has this race survived!!!
Sweet cute Kara with her incredibly awesome lisp just wandered in here to tell me she wanted to "pway on the umpooter and pway imsinason moobas game. do we hab it? do we hab dongal duck? do we hab it? Do we hab it mama? Do we?"
If you need the Kara-English translation of that sentance (and it's even harder to understand in real life) it was "play on the computer and play imagination movers game. Do we have it? Do we have donald duck? Do we have it? do we have it mama? Do we?"
And then Kara just found one of my "wong bwown haiws" on my shirt and tried to put it back in my head for me. Isn't she sweet. (did I tell you my hair keeps going more gray and falling out more. Again motherhood rocks!)
OK- so like I always say- blogs are hard to get the writers meaning especially when they are using sarcasm... I am in an unusually good mood this morning and this whole post was written in a finding the silver lining and laughing at my misfortune type of voice and not in a bitter way at all. Seriously life is just too funny and ironic if you step back and look at it. :)

That is murphy's law for moms! Love your real posts! Love them! Your night you described is what happens at my house. It was similar to our Christmas Eve. I do believe that when the baby sleeps all night, it's for the momma to have her hands free to be needed in a different way. Moms are moms 24 hours a day, working round the clock. Nights. Days. Weekends. Holidays. ALWAYS! Thanks for sharing as it helps other moms feel validated! Feeling validated is huge!
