Here are a few things that happened or I've noticed this week that I wanted to blog about but weren't fantastic or long enough to warrant their own special little blog post.
1- I keep finding more and more gray hairs. Granted there are maybe 10 or less I can see from the front of my head- (I haven't inspected the back.) The vast majority are springing forth from my temples. My right one more than my left... I wonder if there is a scientific study on what stresses you out by studying the order in which your hair turns gray?? I would be interested to know this...
2- Keeping with the hair topic... Kara's hair is longer now than either of the boys has gotten. (I'm proud of this milestone step of my baby girl.) Which is really kinda saying something considering how crazy long I let Brock's hair get lately. Speaking of which=- he really really needs a trim in case any of you have seen him and thought that- I firmly agree but I am just too scared of cutting it that I wait and wait until someone else (aka- Cortney) cuts it for him. :)
3- One of my favorite things about summers in Utah vs summer in Vegas (besides the way cooler temps) is the fresh fruit! I am in LOVE with fresh fruit. My favorite is probably peach season though!! In the past 2 days I have bought 2 HUGE boxes of peaches and I think me and the kids have probably eaten almost half of one. (I have grand plans to can them this week if we don't eat them all first...)
4- I have finally learned to peacefully coexist with our dog. I have slowly learned over the past 4 years that I am NOT the animal person I once thought I was. Growing up we had the most chill outdoor dog ever. When you went out she NEVER jumped up or barked or freaked out in the least. She only came and laid by you if you called to her. She was totally the epitome of seen and not heard. So when Dan and I started our run of being a mock doggie foster home(long story), I learned very quickly that our dog growing up was not a typical dog- far from it. anyways- the point of this post is that Sally and I now understand one another (for the most part). She stays outside a good part of the day and doesn't try to dig her way out like in the last house. She usually keeps the barking to a minimum and she NEVER has accidents in the house. Plus she is the best under the table "vaccum" I've ever owned. After meals I let her in and she tidys up for me! A huge plus. And now that I've finally learned to live with the dog we have Dan wants to get a giant mastiff! Say what!?!?
5- I made the best ribs this week! Like bomb diggity! And I don't like ribs. I have this really weird aversion to eating meat off the bone. But dang I was loving those! It was totally a fluke things too. I had no idea what I was doing and no broiler pan so I stuck half in the oven and half in a crock pot. I cooked the oven ones on like 250 for like 3 hours maybe then turned it off cuz I had no idea what I was doing and was worried about overcooking them. Then an hour later I threw on some BBQ sauce and cooked them another hour or so at 350 i think and they were amazing!!!! I guarantee I could never recreate their greatness and the ones in the crockpot were no good but I was mighty proud that night...
6- My kids are driving me nuts right now. I tried to escape to the basement to finish this quick post (my 3rd attempt). Dan is off hunting and church was... well... challenging. But we went and survived! At this very moment Kara is pulling on my arm and yelling mama. Brock is poking me with a stick (gently) and Scott is begging me to type in lego star wars so he can play a computer game and yes I am ignoring them all to write this! But man alive I love these kids! They are all awesome! Scott is in love with all things Star Wars/Legos right now and is finally falling in love with learning (reading and writing). Brock is into small animals and small toys like littlest pet shop and blocks and things. Kara is really starting to talk well and it's fun to have her be able to communicate but she's getting fiestier every day! And I love seeing their little personalities develop and grow! I wouldn't trade my kids for any others in the world and can't even express how grateful I am for all my little demons I mean munchkins!
Off to be a mom again!
